Excello Law’s ethos is the compass guiding every aspect of our operations, shaping our interactions within our teams and with our valued clients.

At Excello Law, we specialise in a wide range of legal practice areas, including Real Estate and Business Litigation, Entertainment and Intellectual Property Litigation, and Fiduciary and Beneficiary Trusts and Estates Litigation.

We are dedicated to representing clients in complex cases, particularly those involving civil wrongdoing by large corporations, including matters such as defective products,  anti-competitive behavior, breaches of fiduciary duty, theft of intellectual property, and trade secrets.

Our team has extensive trial experience in state and federal courts, as well as private arbitrations, and is committed to securing justice and significant results for our clients.

Timeline

  • Founder George Bisnought, following his own experiences in both private practice and industry, decides to set up a commercial law firm as a limited company, seeking to provide a more rewarding way to practise for lawyers and offering better value to clients. George’s mission is to challenge the traditional, and bring innovation, disruption and agility to the profession
  • The name is chosen – Excello – to excel or surpass, a guiding principle across everything the firm does. We receive authorisation from the SRA
  • We complete our first firm merger welcoming Joanne Losty, who joins the board four years later

  • Our first milestone is reached with 10 partner-level consultant lawyers

An exciting moment as Excello Law is licensed as an ABS (Alternative Business Structure)

  • We commit to offering consultant lawyers the space and facilities for working, hot desking and client meetings with the opening of our first office in London’s Chancery Lane
  • Growth continues apace as we reach a team of 50 lawyers
  • Excello 360 – our dedicated central services support team – is launched offering a best in class transition and induction programme, and a host of admin, secretarial, marketing and business development support services available to lawyers

  • We open our third UK office – this time in Leeds ready to support Yorkshire and the NE
  • We agree our first international strategic alliance with Rimon Law in the US
  • Our offer expands with the recruitment of our first private client specialist
  • We roll-out our Business Development Ambassadors strategy – regionally-based senior lawyers with the contacts and local knowledge to lend support to new consultants

  • We offer a new service as one of the world’s leading Islamic finance and banking lawyers moves to Excello Law
  • We undertake our first Lawyer Satisfaction Survey and achieve an almost perfect score as our lawyers rank their happiness working for the firm, enjoying the freedom, flexibility and control of their daily working lives
  • We add family law to our portfolio
  • We win ‘Best Agile Working Initiative’ at The Lawyer Business Awards

  • We open our Chester office and welcome a host of new joiners across litigation, corporate, private client and environment who are attracted to the first-class facilities
  • Excello Law officially has the largest office network of any of the new-model firms with the opening of our new London office in the heart of the City
  • We win COLBA Legal Firm of the Year – a fantastic result for our rapidly-expanding NW team
  • We win ‘Excellence in Law Management’ at the Law Society Awards
  • We agree a strategic alliance with new-model firm Nexus Law Group in Australia, building on our agreement with US-based Rimon Law, providing a network of over 200 lawyers to service clients across North America, Australia and SE Asia
  • Recognition from the Modern Law Awards as we win ‘ABS of the Year’

  • We move to larger offices in Leeds
  • Two of our employment lawyers achieve one of the largest compensation claims awarded against the NHS, and national news headlines, when a former NHS IT manager wins £1 million following unfair dismissal

It’s official – we reach 100 partner-level lawyers working for the firm with a support team of 25.

We continue our expansion across the NW with the opening of our Manchester office

Exciting news as we open an office in Leicester to support a number of new joiners in the area

We launch a new national residential development team of over 20 lawyers providing services to housebuilders, private and public sector developers and private landowners.

We celebrate our 12th anniversary demonstrating a sustainable and expanding ‘consultant lawyer’ business model. We’re now a team of 150+

We recognise the first cohort of Excello consultant lawyers who have worked for more than a decade for the firm demonstrating sustainability and longevity of the consultancy fee-share model.

Following the growth of our East Midlands team, we move to larger offices in Leicester at the prestigious Gresham Works redevelopment.

We open a new office in Stoke-on-Trent bringing our national office network to 10 locations – all free to use for our consultant lawyers for permanent working, hot desking and client meetings.

We open our 11th office in Nottingham to coincide with a significant team move boosting our insolvency practice.

Excello completes the strategic acquisition of new-model firm My Business Counsel, based in London and the Midlands, bringing our total lawyer numbers to 200.

Excello Law expands its global presence with new offices in Dubai, in collaboration with the esteemed law firm ALB Mathew; in California, USA, with Managing Partner J. Paul Gignac; and in Belfast, Northern Ireland, with Managing Partner Greg Martin.
